A young man (21) from Ghent who was involved as a 17-year-old in a stabbing that almost killed the victim, does not get a punishment for that. And that while the public prosecutor had demanded 220 hours of community service. The juvenile judge acknowledges that he does deserve a punishment, but does not impose it because “it would not be executed”. In exchange, the perpetrator receives a reprimand. The victim’s lawyer is furious: “This is not in proportion at all.”
