T he new Juventus, a bit like Rome, was not built in a day. Cristiano Giuntoli has already had almost one hundred and fifty days at Juventus, but he is only at the beginning of the five-year project entrusted to him by the owners in July. After a low-cost summer transfer market and waiting for the winter adjustments, the former manager of Italian champion Napoli and his right-hand man Giovanni Manna are working tirelessly on contract renewals. A way to plan for the future and above all to make the present more sustainable through re-discussed and spread out salaries and amortisation. A plan of extensions and cuts to rebuild a winning Lady both on the pitch and in the budgets. Having made the white smokes of Federico Gatti, Manuel Locatelli and Nicolò Fagioli official – all “extended” until 2028 – the Juventus managers are focusing on the signatures of Szczesny (expires 2025), Bremer (2027), Rugani (2024), Rabiot (2024 ), Chiesa (2025) and Vlahovic (2026).

It deals with

At the top of Giuntoli and Manna’s thoughts are Chiesa and Vlahovic. The former, a great protagonist of Italy’s qualification for Euro 2024, has a fairly short contract. It is no coincidence that Juventus already met with his agent last month and soon, certainly before Christmas, a new summit will take place. There is no agreement yet and it cannot be taken for granted that it will arrive quickly. But Giuntoli and Manna have already achieved a result by cashing in on an unexpected promise from the number 7’s entourage: no farewell on a free transfer in 2025. Having escaped the biggest risk, we continue to think about a “bridge” renewal. A one-year extension – from 2025 to 2026 – with the same salary (5 million plus bonus). Vlahovic’s case is different, but not simpler. The Serbian has an increasing salary and in the last season (2025-26) he will earn around 12 million. A very high figure for the club’s new parameters. Hence the idea of Giuntoli and Manna to offer DV9 a contract until 2027, spreading the amortization and “easy” bonuses of the rich salary over an extra year. A new summit is scheduled for early December. Unless there are slippages linked to the moment of DV9, who in the last period in addition to not scoring (the last goals on 16 September) was overtaken by Kean in Allegri’s hierarchies. “The extension? We’ll talk about it later,” Rabiot said in recent days. The Frenchman, fresh from his annual renewal, will expire again in June: negotiations will come to a head in the spring.

From the wall to the market

By Christmas, however, Juventus would like to complete the renovation of the defensive wall. Discussions started, but not yet concluded, with Szczesny and Bremer. Growing optimism for Rugani. Between one extension and another, surveys continue to strengthen the squad immediately given the disqualifications of Pogba (suspended for doping) and Fagioli (betting). In midfield, in addition to the loan opportunity for Kalvin Phillips (City), other hypotheses are being evaluated: in France there is talk of a return for Kouadio Koné (Borussia Moenchengladbach). Among the last minute deals on sale, Bernardeschi (now at Toronto) resists and Nandez (Cagliari) emerges. Berardi and Sudakov are always on the radar.
