Juve between Maehle, Karsdorp and the return of Cambiaso: the choices in the range

The black and white eyes on Karsdorp’s situation at Roma after the break with Mourinho. But the Dane makes room: are Atalanta open to loan? In the background, the possible return of Cambiaso

January’s casting started early. Juventus has already posted the search criteria on the imaginary bulletin board of the market: looking for a right winger with good international experience to make Juan Cuadrado catch his breath from time to time. Note: the ability to play on the left as well and the possibility of transferring on loan or at very low cost will be characteristics taken into consideration. It’s easy to imagine how many potential candidates there are when it comes to playing for Juve.

Karsdorp option

There is, however, to deal with market dynamics. Federico Cherubini has identified above all two welcome profiles, among others. The first is that of Rick Karsdorp, winger en route with Roma, or rather with José Mourinho. His agent, Johan Henkes, has just been in the capital these days to discuss the future of the Dutchman with the Giallorossi club, who in the meantime underwent a routine medical examination and left for his country. Roma’s point of view remains unchanged for now: either a fair offer arrives or Karsdorp stays, looking for a way of peace with the Special One. While Juve observes any developments from afar and in the meantime probes for another lead. Who always leads to Serie A, but to Atalanta: it’s about Joakim Maehle.

The Nerazzurri fullback is busy in Qatar with his national team, which will play the round of 16 qualifier against Australia the day after tomorrow. Maehle is playing in the World Cup as a starter, something that hasn’t always happened to him at Atalanta. To be honest, in Bergamo they rarely saw the “Danish” version of the winger taken almost two years ago from Genk for over 10 million euros. In Gian Piero Gasperini’s game, Maehle struggled more than expected, so much so that a possible departure would certainly not have been seen as a drama. Atalanta, however, are not used to selling off, also in light of the investment made. Juve, for its part, could offer a loan with the right to buy, even at a high figure (15 million?), but without obligation. Maehle is seen as a useful reinforcement in the current situation in terms of level, experience and ability to play on both flanks, but the Juventus club will hardly be willing to put money on the plate right away. That’s why, in addition to the hunt for more similar profiles, option “C” remains alive: bringing Andrea Cambiaso home early, bought in the summer from Genoa and temporarily “parked” in Bologna.
