There is a lot of fuss about Jutta Leerdam’s attitude during the current Winter Olympics. Not only did she show up like a diva in a private jet, but she also refused to speak to the press. “This is truly a sportswoman par excellence who has been working her entire life to achieve this kind of performance,” says Story boss Guido den Aantrekker.
Sour critics
Guido defends Jutta. “Then all those pilots on shore can all have a lot of criticism that she flew to Milan on a private jet and didn’t want to talk to the press… This woman prepares herself so thoroughly for such a race and then you don’t let yourself be distracted by a few smart-aleck reporters who just whine,” he says in Show news.
The top skater has hit back at Johan Derksen on her Instagram with a photo of herself as a baby and the text prima donna. That’s what Johan called her. “So you can see that it did something to her, because otherwise you wouldn’t do that,” says Guido. “With this she laughs at all those sour critics.”
“It’s not sour!”
Telegraaf reporter Jordi Versteegden thinks that is a lame qualification. “Guido calls it sour, but in my opinion it has nothing to do with sourness that you do have a lot of time to fill your TikTok and your Instagram page – with all due respect, because she has a lot of followers there – but at the same time: what is worth taking a moment…”
“There are 4 million people in the Netherlands who are passionate about the sport and about Jutta. What’s the point in speaking to the press for five minutes?”
‘Nonsense!’
Guido attacks Jordi. “Well, afterwards, I think. I really think what you say is a bit nonsense, Jordi. Normally I don’t think so, but now I do. When people put their private lives on Instagram, they have to decide for themselves, but when you have to perform a sports performance, then you are just focused on that.”
“I think it is very powerful that she is completely focused on that and does not allow herself to be distracted by everyone who wants something from her. It makes perfect sense, we are all journalists and would like to talk to her…”
Wealth
Jordi is annoyed that Jutta extensively displays her private jet. “I then think: you do have time to show that wealth.”
Tooske Ragas was angry: “What does it matter how she comes?! Even if she comes with a spaceship! That woman just won gold!”
