Justin Bieber’s world tour has finally been canceled this Wednesday (February 1st) – and the Barclays Arena in Hamburg, where the Canadian should have played on January 16th, announcedthat there will be no catch-up date either. The 29-year-old had to cancel shows for health reasons in October 2022, and the tour has now been finally canceled. In June of the same year he made it public that he suffered from Ramsay Hunt Syndrome – and that this would have an impact on his “Justice World Tour”. As has now been announced, the concerts in Cologne, Frankfurt, Berlin and Munich will also not take place.

Ramsay Hunt syndrome: facial paralysis

Ramsay Hunt syndrome, named after the American neurologist, is caused by the varicella-zoster virus. Chickenpox is the clinical picture of the first illness with the pathogen. In a second disease, the viruses can be reactivated – and shingles, if the facial nerve is affected, can trigger Ramsay-Hunt neuralgia. The syndrome is facial paralysis, and it can occur years after the actual illness. Other symptoms can include: hearing loss, tinnitus, ear pain from the inflammation, and difficulty closing one eye. The disease can be cured by drug treatment of the viral infection, but it is difficult to predict when.

The pop star is acutely paralyzed on the right side of his face, as he showed in the Instagram video when he announced his illness. The situation is “pretty serious”:
