Just wait a little longer, and then the new and faster intercity will run in Drenthe

The new NS intercity may be able to run between the Randstad and the North later this year. The Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate yesterday approved the use of the train, nicknamed ‘the wasp’, on Dutch railways.

Before the summer of this year, the NS will test drive the new intercity. This will take place on the Amsterdam – Rotterdam – Breda route. After that, if everything goes according to plan, the connections between Rotterdam and Groningen and Leeuwarden will follow. The train also stops in Assen.
