Patty Brard believes that her TV colleague Johan Derksen should apologize to Caroline van der Plas without any ifs or buts. “Just limit yourself to sorry,” she shouts.

There has been some discussion about Caroline van der Plas’ sudden decision not to perform at the De Bevers concert in Rotterdam’s Ahoy on Saturday evening. After four and a half hours of rehearsals, she decided to drop out just half an hour (!) before the show, saying she felt so sorry for the victims of the shooting incident in Rotterdam.

Doubts about Caroline

Strange, says Johan Derksen, who was also present. He points out that Caroline never once mentioned this during the hours of rehearsals. He does state that the rehearsals went very poorly for her and that she was suddenly taken aside by one of her assistants. And then she suddenly decided to stop.

Caroline is very sorry that Johan is now doubting her integrity so publicly, but he thinks she should not be so mean. At Shownieuws they are in the Caroline camp. “You really question her integrity if you say this like Johan Derksen,” says Privé boss Evert Santegoeds, the program’s integrity expert.

No dim dam

What did Caroline tell Shownieuws? Evert: “She doesn’t want to bring it to a head, she says, ‘because then it goes on the backs of the victims, I don’t want any further discussion about this’, so as far as she is concerned the matter is closed. But as far as she is concerned, the love between Johan Derksen and her has cooled for a while.”

Johan tries to calm things down in an item: “No, listen: the media makes a fuss about it, but for me it wasn’t such a riot. The last person I want to put in a bad light or insult is Caroline van der Plas. I have known her for 40 or 50 years and I actually voted for her. Protest voice, eh, not anymore.”

Big girl

What does he think about Caroline feeling hurt? “Caroline must be a big girl. We shouldn’t be so easily hurt, huh? I just misunderstood. Look, when she says before rehearsals, ‘Guys, I promised, but I’m not participating,’ I understood that, but it came half an hour before the show started, right?”

Evert punishes Johan: “This reaction could have been limited to that one sentence: ‘I misunderstood’, because it really affects her integrity. She is angry about that. He could have just said sorry. Half an hour before the show started? That was just because it was building up!”

Patty lashes out

Caroline’s reaction is completely understandable, says Evert. “Caroline took it very seriously and said: ‘I’m not doing it’, and then it’s not nice to be put on your number a few days later by someone you’ve known for 40 or 50 years.”

Patty Brard also reprimands Johan. “I completely agree with that. I also read somewhere that she was still dancing in the wings. Yes, guys, listen: that woman might move for a moment. I think she was absolutely right to make that decision. And indeed: from now on, limit yourself to sorry.”
