Official at Red Bull, advertising face on TV and expert for the World Cup: Jürgen Klopp already has a number of jobs. Now another one is added.
Jürgen Klopp will be involved in another area of German sport in the future. The former coach of Liverpool FC and Borussia Dortmund was appointed to the supervisory board of the German Sport Aid Foundation.
The 58-year-old will in future be a member of the control committee together with Minister of State for Sports Christiane Schenderlein (CDU). Sporthilfe announced this on Tuesday. Chaired by former DFL managing director Christian Seifert, the supervisory board now has 15 members.
“I feel honored to be able to take on this responsibility and help shape the future of German sport. If someone had told me a few years ago as a young athlete that I would be allowed to be part of this, I wouldn’t have believed it,” said Klopp about his new task.
The former coach is currently working as “Global Head of Soccer” at Red Bull – with a view to clubs such as RB Leipzig and international teams.
In addition to Klopp and Schenderlein, Post board member Nikola Hagleitner and speed skater Hendrik Dombek were also appointed to the committee. “They bring expertise from politics, sport, business and leadership and will give Sporthilfe important impetus for the future,” said Seifert.
