A few months ago, it was announced that Michael Timm was suffering from cancer. Now the former boxer has lost the fight.

The German boxing trainer and former amateur fighter Michael Timm died at the age of 62. It was not until August of last year that the three-time GDR master fell ill. Now his former protégés informed Timm’s death on Instagram.

“Today we lost a wonderful person. Timi enriched my life with his warmth, laughter and warmth,” wrote Jürgen Brähmer on Wednesday. And further: “I am infinitely grateful for the time together and will carry you in your heart forever. Quiet in peace, dear coach.” The ex-world champion posted a common picture of the two.

Even the two -time world champion in heavyweight, Ruslan Chagayev, reported: “Why are the best the first? Timmy, you were a man with capital letters, you were a friend, you were a great coach. We’ll miss you.”

Timm himself used to be in the amateur boxing: in 1985 he became European champion in half -medium weight in Budapest. A year later he hit another career. As head coach of the BC Traktor Schwerin, he led the club to be carried out in the Bundesliga and at national and international championships. Timm trained a total of five world champions and two world champions, including Jürgen Brähmer and Felix Sturm.

Timm also made a name for himself in the German Box Sports Association (DBV). In August 2012 he also followed Willi Ramin as head of the federal base in Schwerin. Timm supervised the German national team and was deployed at European Championships, World Championships and Olympic Games.

German boxers won several medals below him and celebrated the EM and World Cup successes. Timm recognized talents early and built them up. He was called “mentor” and fatherly friend “. Timm leaves his wife and two daughters.
