“Team Jumbo-Visma will not appear at the start of the fifth stage of the Tour de Suisse today. Despite all precautions, corona has again crept into the team,” the team writes. “In the interest of the health of the riders and staff and to protect the peloton and the race, the medical and sporting management of the Dutch formation considers withdrawing from the Swiss stage race the wisest decision. The decision was taken in consultation with the management of the Tour de Suisse. Team Jumbo-Visma does not report anyone who has become a victim of a covid infection.”
The disappearance is a big blow to the bill of several riders who hoped to ride in the Tour team this week. With the Dutch formation, only Wout van Aert, Primoz Roglic and Jonas Vingegaard are one hundred percent sure of a place at the departure in Copenhagen.
Furthermore, Sepp Kuss sees the chance of a good ranking disappear. The American was seventh after four stages, just ten seconds from leader Stephen Williams.
