Julian Nagelsmann sees “no special performance” against Eintracht Frankfurt

Hertha BSC conceded the next bankruptcy in the derby against Union Berlin. Borussia Mönchengladbach is exacerbating the crisis at TSG Hoffenheim. And FC Bayern will remain without a win in 2023 after the 1-1 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt. The votes on the 18th matchday of the Bundesliga:

Bayern Munich – Eintracht Frankfurt

Julian Nagelsmann (FC Bayern Munich coach): “We can do a lot more to gain self-confidence – also in terms of content. Lots of points that we can improve on. It’s very difficult when the opponent defends so deeply. We only overplay the wing, barely going through the centre. Then it becomes very difficult to bring in the necessary goal threat. In the end, it’s not a special performance from us.”

Oliver Glasner (Eintracht Frankfurt coach): “The point is okay, we were braver and more consistent in the second half. All in all, the lads put in a great performance, we’re very happy.”

FSV Mainz 05 – VfL Bochum

Bo Svensson (FSV Mainz 05 coach): “After the blow on Wednesday we showed a great mentality. We started very concentrated and were in the game well. After we had to replace Stefan Bell, we had problems. Bochum is always on believed themselves. It could have been tight again, that was unnecessary. Overall, the team played a very good game.”

Thomas Letsch (VfL Bochum coach): “Unfortunately, we didn’t accept the game. We were always close, but not fast enough. We never got into the game. The second half wasn’t much better, we came back out of nowhere in the game. It wasn’t enough, Mainz deserved to win. That doesn’t knock us out.”

SC Freiburg – FC Augsburg

Christian Streich (SC Freiburg coach): “We played against good Augsburgers, it was difficult and they were very strong and played cleverly. We had good chances to score and sometimes scored two goals from the game, but we also missed a few things. We’re very, very happy. The team did a brutal job on Wednesday and you can’t always have that intensity. In the end it was deserved, also with a view to the other chances.”

Enrico Maaßen (FC Augsburg coach): “We played well over the 90 minutes against good opponents. We know how difficult it is to survive here, given the level of emotion. We have to take credit for scoring all three goals too easy to get – even if it’s an opponent’s quality. But we also had chances to take a point.”

Werder Bremen – VfL Wolfsburg

Ole Werner (Werder Bremen coach): “It was a turbulent game, in the closing stages things got tight again. In the first half we had opportunities to lead higher. In the second half it was more of a defensive effort. The little things worked out , we threw ourselves passionately into every ball.”

Niko Kovac (VfL Wolfsburg coach): “The bottom line is that we woke up too late and deservedly lost. We have to shake ourselves briefly. We’ll do everything we can to get the lads back on their feet and look positively ahead.”

Hertha BSC – Union Berlin

Sandro Schwarz (Hertha BSC coach): “We played a very good first half, were very active and courageous. It’s disappointing when it comes to the result. We are aware that you need points in our situation.”

Urs Fischer (Trainer Union Berlin): “It was a hard-fought derby. It was very close for 90 minutes. In the end we are the lucky winners. We were efficient. If I look at the whole 90 minutes, I wouldn’t say it was a top team speak.”

TSG Hoffenheim – Borussia Monchengladbach

Andre Breitenreiter (TSG Hoffenheim coach): “We got on really well. It was 0-1 out of nowhere. Of five shots on goal against us, four are possible. That’s the way it is in this situation. We need far too many chances to score goals achieve – the opponent, on the other hand, only needs a few.”

Daniel Farke (Borussia Mönchengladbach coach): “It’s a good day for us. The lads delivered. We played a top game away. We defended very carefully and consistently. It was important that we took advantage of the decisive situations . We go home satisfied.”

RB Leipzig vs VfB Stuttgart

Marco Rose (RB Leipzig coach): “It was a hard-fought victory that came in phases. Stuttgart is a very talented team with speed and good footballers. We didn’t get into the game that well. Then we score the goal. Up to It was very good after the break. We had a moment of shock after the break, but otherwise we were better and clearer. We’re very happy to take the three points.”

Bruno Labbadia (VfB Stuttgart coach): “It’s relatively difficult for me to find the words today. On the one hand we’re empty-handed. We’ve now played three games and got two points. But we know that we could have gotten more. We have a tough task ahead of us. We have to score.”
