“It may be true in general that a judge cannot erase his personal background, views and experiences when he judges a case as a judge, but that does not alter the fact that a judge is expected to be able to critically examine his own judgment,” the Disqualification Chamber ruled. “The mere circumstance that the judge works at a university that is not involved and that he works a lot with students is not so exceptional that the presumption of impartiality is thereby set aside.”
It is not yet known whether the multiple chamber of the court (of which this judge is still a part) has already ruled in the case against the two 22-year-olds. In any case, the ruling does not appear to be online.
