It is a coming and going of tractors with pruning waste in Annen. The organization was told on Thursday afternoon that the Easter fire in the village could continue. So there is work to be done.
“I am surprised every time I come back to the bump and see how much there is,” says Ronald Smit of the Tug -out Association Annen, the organization of the Easter fire in the village. “It is huge what we have collected together today. We are very happy with that.”
Smit got into the car after work after work, looked at his phone and was shocked. “I all had messages and missed calls. Then it turned out that the Easter fire could continue. Really super. We met the board and decided to go for it.”
In no time, a piece of land is arranged through a farmer and machines are taken from everywhere. Today, pruning waste from Annen and the surrounding area is collected. On Saturday, residents can still bring their pruning waste to the Easter bump.
On Sunday evening the fire will go in Annen. The organization hopes for a few hundred visitors. On Monday, the members of the tug of war have to get up early again, because the country must be cleaned up. “On Tuesday the potatoes will just go in,” Smit explains. “On Sunday it will be late, but on Monday we will be back on time and we will clean up the remains, so that the farmer can continue with the work again.”
So joy in Annen, but in valleys the disappointment is great. The Easter hump went through the municipality of Coevorden on Tuesday by the fragmenter. “I don’t know if I have to cry or laugh,” organizer Jan Uineken said yesterday. “It is bizarre, because we have shouted from the roofs for weeks to wait with the cancellation of the Easter fires. Then it is unbelievable that it can still go on now. It doesn’t get more sour than this.”
But today there is a little bit of good news for the people of Dalen. “With the help of entrepreneurs, farmers and contractors from the area, we will still drag branches to this,” says Uineken. “It will not be a nice bump, but there will be an Easter fire.”
