Journey’s farewell tour “Final Frontier,” which has kept the band on the road nonstop since kicking off on February 28 in Hershey, Pennsylvania, is getting even longer: 40 more North American dates are being added. The new leg begins on September 12th in Los Angeles and ends on November 28th in San Francisco.

“The energy was incredible every night,” Journey founder and guitarist Neal Schon said in a statement. “There’s something powerful about seeing these crowds singing along to our songs after all these years. We look forward to bringing the ‘Final Frontier Tour’ to even more cities this fall.”

Unlike most tours in recent years, this time Journey has no other band on the program. This gives them the opportunity to play a sprawling set that combines big hits like “Lights,” “Faithfully,” “Any Way You Want It” and “Don’t Stop Believin'” with deep cuts like “Dead or Alive,” “Chain Reaction” and “Suzanne” – and even includes a song from their 1975 self-titled debut album, “Of a Lifetime.”

Pineda about the fans

“The fans are incredible,” says frontman Arnel Pineda in a statement. “Every night feels like a celebration, and we can’t wait to bring this experience to even more cities.”

The tour was not without complications. A day before the start, Pineda told Rolling Stone that personal problems almost caused him to leave the band. “As early as 2024, I said to them, ‘If you’re planning a farewell tour, you better tell me, because my personal problems are getting worse and I don’t know if I want to go,'” he said. “I told them I wanted to retire because of my personal problems. No answer. Apparently they don’t want to look for another singer.”

Already emphasized that the matter was not that easy. “It was very confusing,” he said. “He’s been sending a lot of messages saying he’s overwhelmed with his personal life and doesn’t know if he can do it. But we’ve all signed contracts, okay? So I’m honestly scheduled for the next two years. I’m ready. Really – I have to be honest: whatever happens, I’m ready to plow through it, survive and swim on top. I hope he sees things better.”

Internal problems overcome

The band put aside their internal difficulties and presented a united front on stage night after night. And although they will have played almost every corner of America by the end of the year, more dates are already planned for 2027. It is not yet clear where the very last show will take place.

“It’s just a childhood wish – the three-year-old in me that adores his parents so much,” Pineda told Rolling Stone in February. “I wish Steve Perry would make an appearance. He wouldn’t even have to sing. He could just take a bow with the boys. If he doesn’t want to do that, I would respect that. But if he did – that would be an incredible sight.”

Perry’s appearance at a Journey concert, even a brief bow, remains highly unlikely. But the music he created with Journey back then carries their live show to this day. The full tour program for 2026 can be found below – the new dates are in bold.
