The Istanbuler derby has an aftermath for José Mourinho. However, he does not want to accept the allegations of racism-and now takes legal steps.

Trainer José Mourinho from Fenerbahçe Istanbul has sued the leader of the Süper Lig Galatasaray for damages. In an official statement, Fenerbahçe announced that he had started legal steps against the arch -rival from the Süper Lig.

“We would like to announce the public that the lawyers of the Fenerbahçe Sports Club have submitted a lawsuit for intangible compensation of 1.907 million Turkish lira (50,000 euros, editor) against the Galatasaray Sports Club due to the attack on the personal rights of our trainer José Mourinho,” it said on the platform X.

This was preceded by a heated derby on Monday in the league between the two Istanbul clubs (0-0). Mourinho then said at the press conference that the opposing bank jumped around “like monkeys” after a controversial situation.

Mourinho’s statement was embedded in a general criticism of the achievements of Turkish referees, whose appearance the coach has been questioned for a long time. As a result, the youngest Istanbul city derby was led by Slavko Vinčić from Slovenia.

The Turkish Football Association TFF has blocked Mourinho for four games. According to its own statements, the association punished derogatory and insulting statements as well as unsportsmanlike behavior of Mourinhos. The 62-year-old also has to pay a fine of around 42,000 euros, as it was said.

According to Mourinhos, Galatasaray had announced that the European Football Union UEFA and the FIFA World Association officially file a complaint. Mourinho’s club Fenerbahçe rejected the allegations.

Süper-Lig-Lig head leader Galatasaray wrote on X: “Since taking office in Turkey, the coach of Fenerbahçe, José Mourinho, has repeatedly commented on the Turkish people. Today, his statements about mere immoral comments have escalated into a clearly inhumane rhetoric.”
