Jordy Vande Sompele (31), perpetrator of the crossbow murder, takes his own life: “He was afraid to fly back to the cell”

Jordy Vande Sompele (31) shot his love rival with a crossbow on May 1, 2018 in Schuiferskapelle, near Tielt in West Flanders. He was sentenced to 18 years in prison for this, but was allowed to leave prison a while ago. Last Thursday he took his own life at work. Perhaps out of fear of being arrested again. “He had called me in the morning because he had had an argument with his ex-girlfriend and feared that he would end up in jail again,” says his lawyer.
