The now 83-year-old Joop van den Ende is one of the richest people in the Netherlands, mainly due to the sale of TV production house Endemol. What does he think of television in 2025? Who does he think is the greatest TV talent? He tells it to presenter Frank van Leeuwen in the chat section of Goedemorgen Nederland (see below).

‘Not to be slimy’

Frank is curious about it. “Which emerging talents should we still keep an eye on?”

Joop then: “Not to make any excuses, because of course I’m sitting next to you.”

Frank: “Well, well, how sweet.”

Joop: “It’s just the truth.”

Frank: “This wasn’t rehearsed, was it?”

Three talents

Joop is serious. “No, no, WNL has three talented people that they have to be careful with, but you have to make a plan for that. If you are true to your talent, you will not lose it to someone else.”

Frank: “I can call you to come along to the performance review, right?”

Joop: “If I have time, I will come.”

TV or theater?

What is Joop’s great love: TV or theater? “At the moment, theater. Theater is a medium with depth. If you make it, you are involved for a longer time. I love television, but it is fleeting. You make this program and it is gone.”

Finally, what’s the biggest career risk he’s ever taken? “Oh, a lot. Fortunately, I have had many successes, but also many flops. Bassie & Adriaan almost went bankrupt. I have seen many tunnels, but I have always managed to get out.”
