Joni Mitchell has announced a live album for next year. Recordings of their performance at the Newport Folk Festival in the summer of 2022 should serve as the basis for this. The musician made the announcement to host Elton John on Apple’s Rocket Hour podcast in Saturday’s (November 12) episode of the Joni Mitchell Special.

Mitchell announced in October that she would be headlining Echoes Through the Canyon for two concerts at Washington’s The Gorge Amphitheater in 2023, after more than 20 years.

A live recording straight from the throne

Excerpts from Mitchell’s surprise show can be found here. As part of a jam session, she played with other artists such as Brandi Carlile, Marcus Mumford and country singer Wynonna.

Two legends talk about music and social problems

Aside from her music, Mitchell has spoken to Elton John about issues such as environmental issues and wars, among other things. Excerpts from the production were published on YouTube.

Mitchell’s live work “Stars To Read (Live 1995)” was released earlier this year.
