Jong Groen wants an apology from Prime Minister De Croo: “No ambitious climate policy? Then why are we still in government?” | Interior

Groen previously described De Croo’s statements as ‘outrageous’ and ‘not covered by the government’, but did not yet want to use the word ‘government crisis’. However, Jong Groen is sharper and speaks of a ‘major breach of trust’. “The prime minister has apparently forgotten that there are two green parties in his government,” responds the co-chair of the youth department, who thinks De Croo should ‘apologise’. “We do not need an Open Vld campaign manager, but a prime minister,” it sounds strong.

The prime minister already responded to VTM News today, but did not see any problems in his statements. “We must do everything we can to stop global warming, but let’s not try to do everything at once with the risk of not achieving anything.” According to De Croo, he has formulated a position that was “determined months ago by all the governments of our country”.

However, Vandenhirtz demands more from De Croo. “He must make it clear that his government is pursuing an ambitious climate policy. That’s why the Greens are in government. I don’t see how we can function without it. The coalition agreement must be followed, that is not a scrap of paper. If we do not respect the coalition agreement, I do not see what De Croo is still doing.”
