Jonathan Anderson wins Designer of the Year for the second year in a row

British-Irish fashion designer Jonathan Anderson, founder of JW Anderson, has won the Designer of the Year Award won at the annual Fashion Awards in London, organized by the British Fashion Council (BFC). In doing so, he prevailed against well-known competitors such as John Galliano, Miuccia Prada, Rick Owens, Chemena Kamali and Pieter Mulier. In his acceptance speech, Anderson told the audience that fashion motivates him to get up every morning: “This job isn’t always easy, but I love fashion. It’s something that gets me out of bed every morning,” he said.

The ‘Designer of the Year Award’ honors designers whose innovative collections have had a significant impact on the fashion industry and have had a lasting impact on the global fashion image. Anderson was recognized for his work both at his own label JW Anderson and at the highly successful Loewe brand, part of the LVMH Group.

The originally Spanish label Loewe has experienced an enormous increase in popularity under Anderson’s creative direction. This was also highlighted by analysts at the fashion platform Lyst at the beginning of the year. They cited several cultural moments as reasons for Loewe’s success under Anderson’s leadership, including the launch of a new Paula’s Ibiza collection presented in its Spring/Summer 2025 men’s show in Paris, a Pride capsule collection, and costumes for the movie Challengers.

In addition to Anderson’s award, other awards were presented at the Fashion Awards. These include the Outstanding Achievement Award to Tom Ford, the Trailblazer Award to Remo Ruffini from Moncler and the British Menswear Designer Award to Grace Wales Bonner.
