Swedish basketball superstar Jonas Jerebko shocked the sports world last week when he signed a contract with ZSKA in Moscow.

The Swedish Basketball Association then announced that Jerebko would no longer be seen on the national team. Nocco, also known for its energy drinks, also announced that it will no longer partner with the 35-year-old veteran.

Jerebko has not commented to Western newspapers on why he wanted Russia to play, despite the country waging a shocking war of aggression in Ukraine.

On ZSKA’s Youtube channel, Jerebko, on the other hand, revealed why he wanted to continue his career in Moscow, even though offers came from elsewhere, according to the man.

– I like Moscow. It’s a big city, but really clean and beautiful. Really nice people live here. Everything is here, Jerebko glows in the video Express by.

Moscow is a familiar city to Jerebko, as he played in the ranks of Khimki BK from Moscow in 2019–2021. Before that, the man played ball in the NBA for ten years.

According to Jerebko, moved from Khimki to ZSKA Aleksei Šved attracted his old playmate back to Moscow.

– The world of basketball is small. I talked to Alex. He wanted me to come there – and I wanted to go. Everything worked perfectly. He is one of the best players of all time in Russia and I am glad to play with him.

– And the coach. He is valued around the world, Jerebko continued.

ZSKA is coached by a Greek Dimitrios Itoudis.
