Pictures from the shooting of the Joker sequel ‘Folie à Deux’ have surfaced on Saturday (March 25), showing Lady Gaga during the shooting of the film. After the 36-year-old gave a first glimpse of her role as the partner of Arthur Fleck, played by Joaquin Phoenix, via Twitter in February, she has now been spotted on the film set as Harley Quinn for the first time.
Her checkered eye make-up is reminiscent of the make-up that Phoenix wore in the previous film, which was released in 2019. He is not in the leaked photos from the shoot in Manhattan, New York, but pictures and short video clips public, which show him in his renewed embodiment of the anti-hero.
“Joker: Folie à Deux”: What is known so far
The sequel will be released on October 4, 2024. Unlike the predecessor, it should be a musical. The storyline has only been speculated about so far, according to reports it could partly take place in Arkham Asylum, the fictional mental institution in Gotham City, where the first part ends with the protagonist’s admission, from which Arthur Fleck escapes in the course of the film.
The couple will be joined by Brendan Gleeson and, like in 2019, Zazie Beetz. The screenplay is again by Scott Silver and Todd Phillips is directing again. The film music is also based on the tried and tested and engaged Hildur Guðnadóttir, who – like Phoenix – was awarded an Oscar for the background music of the first part. Filming began in December last year.
