Fairfax, Virginia: A US district court has upheld the mutual defamation lawsuits brought by actor Johnny Depp and his ex-wife and colleague Amber Heard. The jury on Wednesday awarded Depp $15 million in damages and Heard $2 million in damages. Unlike the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star, who was absent “due to appointments” and watched the end of the trial on TV, Heard also appeared in court.

Heard slandered Depp by accusing him of domestic violence, a jury found Wednesday. He demanded $50 million from her, and she counterclaimed $100 million from him. The livestreamed, six-week trial has garnered tremendous attention around the world.
