Johnny de Mol loses support from Telegraaf: ‘Put Hélène there!’

Johnny de Mol receives a lot of criticism from the Telegraaf camp. Both Private star journalist Jan Uriot and media reporter Jordi Versteegden argue for a change of presentation.

Due to a serious stomach flu, Johnny de Mol was stuck to his toilet seat at the beginning of last week. Where he was splashing in his toilet cubicle, Hélène Hendriks did that in his talk show. As a substitute presenter of HLF8, she looked quite relaxed and many viewers actually found her a relief.

“Put Hélène over there!”

Private star Jan Uriot is now advocating to put Hélène on HLF8 definitively. “I thought she did that fun. A nice smooth presentation, it is pleasant to see. I often think Johnny is a bit more careful. That may be because the pressure is high from the viewing figures. Of course he feels his father’s hot breath on his neck,” he says What does Jan think?

The men from VI have already suggested moving their program to 7.30, but Jan doesn’t really like that. “They shouldn’t do that. A very different viewership. They just have to stay there.”

He thinks they should just hire Hélène. “I would say: switch things up once in a while.”

Nervous

Media reporter Jordi Versteegden agrees. He says in the Culture and Media Podcast from De Telegraaf that he always thinks Johnny looks nervous. “Quite often actually if I’m honest. I see a boy sitting there who has to work hard to make it a success and it is not in his nature to present a talk show.”

Where do those nerves come from? “There’s a father looking at the monkey rock, like: how is my son doing? There are viewing figures that are important and they are still disappointing. Around 400 thousand and with that they do not compete with M among others.”

Better choice

Hélène is also a better choice according to Jordi. “There is really someone there with whom I would like to go to the pub in the evening and that is what I think the program should radiate. They are a bit in a decor that a pub should radiate.”

She did that very well, according to Jordi. “It sometimes seems like she doesn’t care or something. That she doesn’t feel that pressure from above. I think that’s very nice. Especially if you then have to fill Johnny’s shoes, where all eyes are on.”

Exciting times

Jordi thinks Johnny is facing a difficult time. “It will be an exciting time for him, because it still has to get better. And that while he has already made the necessary broadcasts. I also don’t think it really stands out from the rest.”

Telegraaf colleague Kitty Herweijer: “No, it is not distinctive at all. It’s just exactly the same as what we already have a lot of. We’ve just seen that, haven’t we? It is saturated.”
