The editors of the TV program Media Inside had a lot of discussions with each other last week whether they still wanted to have Johnny de Mol in the show themselves. “Some were against.”

Johnny de Mol was supposed to join the talk show Media Inside with presenters Marcel van Roosmalen and Gijs Groenteman last Sunday, but then the declaration of his ex-fiancée Shima Kaes had just been leaked. In the end, Johnny canceled, but the editors of the BNNVARA program didn’t like his arrival either.

spicy discussion

Media Inside editor Tamar Bot points out in the podcast The Media Girls be aware that the declaration is therefore very important. “If you read the piece, it is quite a fierce indictment with many details about the alleged facts. We don’t know if it’s true, of course, but if it’s true, that’s obviously not good.”

There was a lot of unrest about this in the editors. “We got a whole discussion in the editors of: ‘Should we still do that? Do we have to receive it yet?’”

Fellow editor Fanny van de Reijt: “Yes, from: ‘Do you still want to receive it at all?’”

Take care

But Johnny still makes his own talk show, right? Tamar: “Look, I think he does his own talk show… Look, he doesn’t have to be canceled right away… It’s not proven at all. He made a statement in it and said that he really didn’t do it with two fingers in the air. I understand that he presents that.”

Fanny: “Yes, although I might have put a stop to it myself.”

Tamar: “Me too, I think. But I also understand that it is very complicated. But of course it’s a completely different discussion whether you’re going to invite him to a program where you don’t necessarily have to be and where you’re going to laugh at funny TV moments.”

frivolous

Johnny see jokes and laughter on TV; the ‘media girls’ are not ready for that. “I also thought… Later in the week he was still singing on TV,” said Fanny.

Tamar: “Yes, he seemed to take it all very lightly. I don’t know if that’s so tactical, but oh well. We got a whole discussion in the editors of, ‘Should we do it?’”

On the one hand, Media Inside thought about the sensation. “Of course it is also interesting and many people will look if you can ask him about it, but on the other hand: if you read the declaration, which actually contains things that his ex’s doctor has noted… It is not just anyone shouting something, it seems.”

Discussion

Shima’s declaration is not a mess, says Tamar. “There seems to be some foundation behind it, although of course you don’t know at all whether he did it. Anyway, it is a story to be taken seriously, also for us as editors. Are you going to invite him?”

That is of course very complicated, she continues. “We had a whole discussion about that. Some people wanted it, some people didn’t.”

They ended up calling Johnny’s manager during the editorial meeting. “I said, ‘Let’s both take an hour to really talk and think about this.’ After an hour we called again and she indicated that unfortunately he was absent.”
