In the middle of Najib Amhali’s podcast, John van den Heuvel is startled by a huge explosion. The crime reporter remains fairly calm, but the host nearly jumps off his chair.
Wherever John van den Heuvel appears, the security situation deteriorates because he is still under serious threat. Some celebrities therefore find it a bit scary to be in one room with him. “I thought: suppose that guy is shot at, then I’m directly in the line of fire,” said Martijn Koning, for example, after a broadcast of HLF8.
Huge explosion
It is therefore not surprising that Najib Amhali is completely shocked when a huge explosion takes place during his interview with John. While they are quietly talking to each other in the podcast ‘What could happen’ there is suddenly a huge bang. The trio at the table falls completely silent.
Najib’s eyes in particular radiate panic. Is he experiencing an attack on John here? Has the crime journalist pissed off a bunch of criminals yet again? Or is it just Shima Kaes storming in angrily?
‘Doesn’t sound good’
John breaks the silence: “That didn’t sound good.”
Najib: “No idea. We’ve never had this ehh… Well, John is here and…”
John: “Haha. Well, I hope not, that there is a causal relationship.”
Najib: “Shall we have a look?”
When he returns moments later, Najib says, “They ran away. Little boys. Fireworks in a window.”
Radio play
John: “But with you? Down here or?”
Najib: “No, not with me. Down here you have another gym. But I think let’s take a look…”
John: “Gosh, I have…”
Just before the explosion goes off, John still talks about his past anger for his biological father. “It just kind of becomes a radio play!”
