John Lennon’s killer Mark Chapman remains in prison

Mark Chapman, who murdered John Lennon, is not eligible for parole.

The Beatles legend John Lennon’s murdered Mark Chapman67, applied for parole for the 12th time.

The parole board rejected the application this time as well, meaning Chapman will not be granted parole.

Chapman shot Lennon to death in New York in 1980 in front of his apartment building, the Dakota. The Beatles icon was his spouse Yoko Ono with.

Lennon was 40 years old when he died.

Chapman had admired Lennon for a long time, but as Chapman’s mental health deteriorated, Lennon became a morbid obsession.

Chapman met the musician earlier on the day of the murder, and asked him to autograph the cover of the Double Fantasy album.

Chapman later returned to the house, and shot the legend five times with a revolver. The shots hit Lennon in the back and arm. Lennon died of blood loss at Roosevelt Hospital.

The next time Chapman can apply for freedom is in February 2024.

Yoko Ono has expressed that she fears for her own safety and the safety of Lennon’s two sons if Chapman is ever released.
