John Legend has not been idle in recent months. The twelve-time Grammy winner has recorded a new album called LEGEND, which will be released on September 9th. To celebrate the day, he also shoots a new single from it: the up-beat song “All She Wanna Do” was created together with Saweetie. It is the third release after “Honey” and “Dope”.
Legend has already released the first two singles from the album, including “Honey” feat Muni Long, a jazz-inspired R&B track, and “Dope,” a summertime feel-good track featuring rapper JID. “All She Wanna Do” along with the Icy Queen Saweetie is the third single release and similar to “DOPE” it’s the perfect feel-good catchy tune this summer. The instantly addictive song was co-written and produced by Ryan Tedder, Monsters and Strangerz, Zach Sketon, Andrew DeRoberts and Halatrax.
“I am thrilled to be releasing new music. The past year has been very exciting creatively,” John Legend said in a statement accompanying the announcement. With the album name LEGEND, the artist also flirts with the iconic meaning of his name for the first time:
Up to this point I have never used any aspect of my name as the title of an album. I had to earn that first by living up to the title with my performance and the music. I’m proud of who I am and I believe in the work I’ve done and I’ll just say it like it is.”
The double album was produced by Legend and Ryan Tedder (Beyoncé, Adele et al). It also features Rick Ross, Muni Long, Jazmine Sullivan, Jada Kingdom, Rapsody, Ledisi, Jhene Aiko, Ty Dolla $ign and more.
