John de Mol believes that Wilfred Genee and the other men from Today Inside are demanding too much money for the extension of their contract, says Evert Santegoeds. “Sewn on by Tina.”
It is undeniable that the men of Today Inside can get much more money than the 1.2 to 1.4 million euros they now get per person. After all, the entire SBS 6 is built on their program and John de Mol is busy selling out his television shop, so it would be a very bad time if the VI gentlemen were to resign now.
2 million per year
John has to dig deep into his pockets and according to Tina Nijkamp, a salary of 2 to 2.5 million euros per person per year is very realistic. And since she is the former boss of SBS 6 and knows what amounts are converted at such a TV channel, Wilfred Genee takes this very seriously, according to Shownieuws star Evert Santegoeds.
However, John is not happy with that, Evert said in the podcast Strictly Private. “Things aren’t going so well, are they? They have been fooled by Tina Nijkamp, who says they should ask the man for 2 million a year. Then at a certain point you have to deal with John de Mol: ‘We were told that we could get 2 million a year.’”
Face of John
The TV billionaire is really, really pissed off about that, says Evert. “I can kind of imagine De Mol’s face, so yeah… They can’t go in many directions, of course.”
“They can go to a pay channel, mewoah, I don’t see that happening 1 2 3, and RTL is not the political color of the VI table. I think they have to find a solution in a different way than with these kinds of amounts, because it seems a bit too ambitious in the Netherlands.”
Interview show
Jordi Versteegden, reporter for De Telegraaf, does not rule out that Wilfred also demands a solo interview program during the negotiations. “I think he will also take that into account in the negotiations, like: if I don’t get that, then something will change, John de Mol.”
Evert: “Then I don’t think you have reached 2 million yet, because an interview program with Wilfred Genee is no guarantee of success.”
‘Will take a while’
Marco Louwerens, the crisis manager of VI and former TV boss of Talpa, tells the podcast that it will take some time before additional signings are made. “If only it were that far.”
Wilfred himself makes it clear that he is ‘not amused’. “It gets under your skin, that exploratory conversation,” Merel Ek says to him in the online section In De Wandelgangs.
Evert: “The end of the story is undoubtedly that they sign another year or two.”
