John de Mol is incredibly upset that sponsor Kippie has walked away from Today Inside after critical statements by Johan Derksen. “They’re all flop chickens!”, says the VI mustache.

It is unprecedented: in the fall, Johan Derksen opened the attack on Kippie, the sponsor of his own program Today Inside. “I don’t want to be a spoilsport, but Wakker Dier and the Animal Protection Society are a bit gloomy about Kippie, because it is all made from chickens that never come outside, right?” he said at the time.

All sponsors gone

Fair on Johan’s part, but Today Inside has been in need of sponsors since the candle riot, so statements like this don’t help the program. The program will soon broadcast from Curaçao, and, says Wilfred Genee: “The difficult thing is: Hélène is also going there for a few weeks and then the sponsors are queuing up, hahahaha. But no one dares here!”

Johan jokes about that in the SBS 6 talk show: “That’s our own fault. If we have these kind of guests at the bar, all sponsors will walk away!”

Fluffy chickens

Table guest Job Knoester speaks to Johan. “Johan, I don’t think it helps that when you have Kippie, you say: ‘They are all floppy chickens!’”

Johan: “Do you know what the funny thing is? I started an investigation into that and I even called organizations like Wakker Dier and they all indicated that they were floppy chickens, but I know… I also told De Mol that, because he was pissed about it…”

Pissed John

TV billionaire John was in a state of dismay. “He said, ‘I had two fucking sponsors and you scared them both away.’ You don’t do that in commercial TV, but the facts were correct.”

Wilfred concludes: “Yes, that is true. You can look at it that way indeed. But the day will come when the contract will not be extended because all sponsors have said: ‘We are not going with that.’ They all sit with Hélène and rightly so. She is doing well.”
