John de Mol, after a long time in front of the camera, walks away after a critical question

John de Mol has appeared in front of a camera for the first time in a year and a half. What immediately stands out? That the years are really starting to count… In terms of content? A weak bite.

It is truly unbelievable how childish the wealthy De Mol media family is in the competition. That entire family has jointly earned billions from television, but now that some missteps have been made in their field, they are closing the hatches. ‘WE DON’T WANT TO TALK TO ANYONE! And Angela de Jong? YOU’RE FAKE!’

Spasmodic

So many decades of media experience and then heading towards your TV retirement like this… It’s quite sad. The fact that Linda de Mol does not want to be held accountable in an independent medium is bizarre for someone who has presented talk shows for years, but that John de Mol, as director of a media company, does not do so is simply unacceptable.

John is now 68 years old, has been working in the media for decades, but still struggles with journalism. He hates critical questions so much that he has now started a good news show on SBS 6. And guess what? Nobody wants a program where everything is just hyped up. 66 thousand viewers!

Very bland

We live in a world with serious problems that happen to all of us, including the De Mol family. The only difference is that one handles it better than the other. Linda and John? They don’t know what to do with it. Anyone who thought that Linda is weak in the competition by only talking to her own magazine hasn’t seen John yet.

So John did an interview with RTL Boulevard yesterday. The reason? A relatively boring charity thing for Ukrainian TV. Of course, you will never come to that as a show section if you are not allowed to ask any other questions. But that is precisely what the media billionaire demanded prior to the conversation.

Call Peter

What seems? John simply called RTL’s TV boss Peter van der Vorst – the two know each other because Peter once became a multi-millionaire when he sold his production company to John – and put his demands on the table. “He informed us via Peter van der Vorst that we really did not intend for us to ask other questions.”

Bizarre, continues TV expert Rob Goossens. “Well, I can think of a few. About The Voice, about his family and about how his channel is doing. On the one hand, SBS 6 has big hits like Today Inside and on the other hand big flops like Avastars, but unfortunately: we won’t know the answers to that.”

John walks away

When, after that obligatory conversation about that Ukrainian charity thing, the Boulevard reporter asks about The Voice and how his upset family is doing, he says: “Things are going well. Thank you. Okay.”

John throws up his hand and walks away abruptly. And he is probably also angry because that reporter did not listen to Peter van der Vorst. How incredibly childish it all is. And so it remains silent. Rob: “He hasn’t said anything in that area since the controversial interview in BOOS about The Voice.”
