Johannes Thingnes Bø continues to be sporty after his career end in the biathlon. The record world champion now convinced with a half marathon in his Norwegian homeland.

Biathlon legend Johannes Thingnes Bø took part in the so-called “Grue Halvmaraton” in Norway on Thursday. The winter sports icon clearly demonstrated that after the resignation as an active competitive athlete, it was not yet “rusty”.

As can be seen from the organizer’s list of results, the 31-year-old needed 1:20:19 hours for the 21,0975 km long route. The long -time ski hunter took 82nd place.

Bø ended his biathlon career in March at the home game at the Holmenkollen in Oslo.

Legendary career in biathlon

“I have been part of the best national team in the world for 13 years. In the last six seasons I have combined top sport with family life. It was fantastic but also challenging,” the exceptional athlete had previously justified his resignation on Instagram.

In this context, Bø explained that they want to take more time for the family in the future.

The Scandinavian is one of the most successful biathletes of all time with five Olympic wins, 23 world champion titles and a total of 118 World Cup victories (single and season).

In his trophy cabinet there are also five large crystal balls for the overall World Cup victory. Last season, however, Bø had to give up his compatriot Sturla Holm Laegreid. “Ultimately, I think it was a fantastic season,” Bø reacted to “TV2”: “It was a scarce fight, but there was one that was better.”

While Laegreid is preparing for the Olympic season in biathlon, Bø enjoys the biathlon pension, but still stays on the move.
