Now that the merger between RTL and Talpa has failed, Johan Derksen and his colleagues from Today Inside are suddenly back in a huge position of power. Talpa has to manage on his own and desperately needs the VI trio. The gentlemen play a key role: without their program, very little remains of flagship SBS 6.

Debating about money

The market value of VI’s men is very high, so they can ask for a significant salary increase during contract negotiations. And otherwise they will talk to the major competitor RTL, experts think.

John responds RTL Boulevard: “Let me put it this way: I don’t get involved in that at all, Wilfred does. I don’t feel like it at all, dude, to sit there and argue about money. You just said I’m 74… Look: I can make the decision to call it quits at any time of the day. I’m not looking ahead at all, am I?”

Clash with Angela

Furthermore, there is still a lot to do about Johan’s failed attack on his table guest Angela de Jong. How does he look back on that? “It was my fault that things went wrong. I explained it very badly. You have those nights when you’re not sharp and then you start talking, don’t you? That was such a night.”

Reporter Lex Uiting: “You were a bit lost in the woods.”

Johan: “It was just a bad evening.”

Did Angela send him a present for his birthday? “I have not received anything from Angela de Jong, no.”
