Johan Derksen is annoyed that Paul Römer has been indispensable from television talk shows in recent days. “What a terrible man that is! A great horse cock,” he shouts.
We saw him on Monday evening at Pauw & De Wit and on Tuesday evening at Eva Jinek: TV bobo Paul Römer, until early last year one of the bobos at Talpa, where he did not hide his disgust at the men of Today Inside. As revenge, the gentlemen still consistently call him ‘Baantjer junior’: his father Piet played that role.
Horse cock
Johan Derksen thinks Paul is a horrible talk show guest. “Two evenings of Baantjer Jr. in a row. Then I can only come to the conclusion that he is a great horse cock. What a terrible man he is! That man thinks he is the high priest of TV,” he says in Today Inside.
He thinks that Paul is not suitable for talk shows. “A cold, unsympathetic man. He has no warmth that he radiates. What I have too much, he has too little.”
Complete nonsense
Studio guest Tina Nijkamp is also annoyed by Paul. “I would like to add that Paul Römer was indeed with Eva tonight and that he was really talking complete nonsense.”
Wilfred Genee: “Garbage?”
Tina: “Yes, a little bit. I think we have a fragment of it too.”
160 million
Paul says in that fragment that the cuts are almost impossible. “Let’s say that you can still find 60 million in efficient work. That leaves a hundred million to be cut. That is approximately the budget of an entire commercial channel that has to be cut.”
“Today we saw the first major announcements – I think they are worth a total of 10 million euros – so we still have to lose 90 million euros. That will be a huge clear-cut!”
‘A billion!’
Tina it’s a nonsense argument. “Then I think: a whole commercial channel has to go, that’s basically what he says. SBS 6, Net5 and Veronica live on a budget of 100 to 150 million euros, as do RTL 4, 5, 7 and 8 – of course they still have Videoland. The NPO has to cut back on that, so I think…”
“I really love the NPO, I really do, I think it’s really important, but they get a billion, right? A billion euros! Yes, then you shouldn’t be so cry-cry, work pragmatically and think: that is possible and that is not possible.”
Same output
Tina does not understand that RTL and Talpa can provide 150 million euros where the NPO thinks it needs a billion (!). “Isn’t that what you also have The Voice and The Masked Singer and Today Inside for? Why is it possible there and at the NPO they need a billion for essentially the same output? It’s unbelievable!”
She concludes: “And then they make a fuss about cutting back 10 percent!”
