Marcel van Roosmalen does not understand the criticism that Johan Derksen takes on Chris Zegers. According to the columnist, this is a typical case of hypocrisy. “The pot calling the kettle black!”

According to Johan Derksen, it is laughable that Chris Zegers has interfered with geopolitical matters in the talk show Op1. He sat opposite a NATO leader to give his extensive opinion on the war that Russia has started in Ukraine. After Chris’s speech, the NATO man accused him of having fallen for Russian propaganda.

What does Marcel think?

Such a Chris should not be involved in discussions about these kinds of things, Johan thinks. He lashed out at Chris. “I think: there is a gentleman with a beard from Clingendael. He explained exactly how the relations were between Ukraine and America. With a very interesting face.”

Columnist Marcel van Roosmalen does not understand Johan’s reproach, he says in his podcast Another Day. “Johan Derksen then kills Chris Zegers. He says: ‘I think it’s ridiculous that Chris Zegers has an opinion about everything.’ Well, I have to laugh a little about that.”

Pot calling kettle

It’s hypocritical, says Marcel. “Sorry, Johan, I’ve got you down, but this really is a case of the pot calling the kettle black. I want to break a big lance here: Chris Zegers, if Media Inside ever returns on television, you are very welcome with us and you can just come and talk about Ukraine.”

According to him, Chris is a well-traveled man who really knows his stuff. “It is a man who is well-traveled. You can see it in his face: never rubbed, traveled the world and sat in the sun. He certainly knows what is going on in the world.”

Good vision

Marcel doesn’t think Chris said such strange things in Op1 at all. “He had the misfortune of sitting opposite that NATO commander, who found it necessary to cover up Chris Zegers, even though he does have a very good vision of Ukraine. I can tell you: if you know Chris Zegers, you know that he is not susceptible to Russian propaganda.”

He concludes: “That is a boy who spells both the NRC Handelsblad, a very good newspaper, and the Volkskrant. Every morning he reads all the articles. He is always very nuanced and friendly. The friendliness of such a Chris Zegers is then completely cut off by such a NATO man.”
