Madrid, Feb 27 (EFE).- Armenian Arman Tsarukyan defeated Spaniard Joel ‘El Fenomeno’ Álvarez by technical knockout at the UFC event held this Sunday in Las Vegas (USA).

‘The Phenomenon’, who came with a 4 win streak, could not counteract the strength of the Armenian on the ground. Tsarukyan fit two powerful elbows in the Spaniard’s face that decided the future of the contest.

As expected, the Armenian sought to take the lawsuit to the canvas from the first moment.

Álvarez has a great wingspan for the division and was coming off an impressive knockout victory against Brazilian Thiago Moisés.

The Armenian tried to get hits and, although ‘The Phenomenon’ did not look far from lacking in resources, his rival knew how to take better advantage of his tricks. He pressed the Spaniard and found gaps. The fight was twisted after a forceful elbow from Tsarukyan that opened a deep cut on the bridge of Álvarez’s nose.

In the corner, at the end of the first installment, they worked on the bleeding in the best way to continue the fight, but the laceration was a major mishap for the Spaniard.

Tsarukyan, seeing that he had made a profit in the first installment, again knocked down a visibly injured Álvarez, worked at the canvas and hit sharply. The spectacular cut on the Spaniard’s face reopened and the Armenian took advantage of the confusion to close the fight with a powerful flurry of blows. EFE
