The future of Thomas Müller is still uncertain. His contract in Munich expires. The world champion has not yet decided.
Joachim Löw spoke out for Thomas Müller’s whereabouts at Bayern. In an interview with the TV station world, the former national coach emphasized the importance of the 34-year-old for the team-also off the square. “Thomas Müller is important in the cabin that has a different temperature when he is there,” said Löw, emphasizing: “He is an incredible motivator and can sweep the team away, even if he doesn’t play as often anymore.”
Rudi Völler, who was also a guest in the show, predicts the 2014 world champion a promising future away from the soccer field. “I am sure that Thomas Müller ends up in management at some point-whether at Bayern or DFB,” said the DFB sports director.
Völler described the discussions about the future of Müller, Leroy Sané and Serge Gnabry as a “luxury problem”. The players in question are still “absolute top players who still perform their performance,” he said. At the same time, however, Völler emphasized that Bayern “would also have to strap the belt a little closer”. Therefore it could be “that you separate yourself from one or the other.”
Löw and Völler also commented on the future of goalkeeper Jonas Urbig, who is traded as the potential successor of Manuel Neuer. “Replacing Manuel Neuer is very difficult because he was the best for years. But Urbig makes a good impression on me,” said Löw, adding that the young keeper needs “experience and game practice”, but is undoubtedly talented.
Völler also praised the 20-year-old: “Manuel Neuer reinvented the position, that was insane. Urbig is a giant talent, he made a mistake against Union Berlin. These are things that happen is also a huge print.”
