Yet, during the last ceremony of César awards in Paristhat face appeared too transformedunleashing a wave of amazement and conspiracy theories that made the rounds on social media. Among those who scream at the unsuccessful facelift and who claims that a lookalikethe mystery deepens, forcing even the organizers to intervene.

He took to the stage at the Olympia theater in Paris for receive the honorary César for lifetime achievement, the star of The Mask It left everyone speechless. Not for his flawless speech in French, prepared for months, but for his facial features: puffy face, protruding cheekbones and very tight skin which seemed almost “deformed”, as the tabloids pointed out. At 64, the actor appeared profoundly different from the image fans retained. Although Carrey has chosen a life away from the spotlight in recent years, this return to the scene raised immediate doubts: is it a too much botox or is there something more bizarre going on?

Aesthetic facial adjustments? The opinion of the experts
Many observers have pointed the finger at cosmetic surgery. According to some experts, such as plastic surgeon Jeffrey Spiegel, the actor would have resorted to treatments that were not exactly appropriate for a male face. We talk about Botox injections that raised eyebrows unnaturally and a possible facelift or the use of “traction wires” (threading) which would have created excessive tension on the cheeks. The final effect, rather than rejuvenating, created that “artificial” volume which fueled the chatter of fans, convinced that the actor had fallen into the trap of compulsive retouching.
The conspiracy theory: «He is a clone or a lookalike»
On social media, however, the medical explanation was not enough. Thus was born the theory of clone: hundreds of users on X analyzed every detail, claiming that the one in Paris was not the real Jim Carrey. The “evidence”? The color of his eyes, which went from brown to greenand the fact that the man on stage signed autographs with his right hand, despite Carrey being famously left-handed. The drag artist added fuel to the fire Alexis Stonefamous for his hyper-realistic transformations, which he published shots of a Carrey latex mask suggesting: “It was me under that makeup”.
The official denial: “We’re going crazy”
Faced with media chaos, Gregory Caulier, general delegate of the César Awardshad to categorically deny any substitution. He confirmed that Carrey was present with his partner Min Ah, his daughter, his nephew and twelve close friendscalling the meeting a “historic moment.” The actor’s entourage also expressed frustration: a source close to Carrey told the Daily Mail That Jim is sad not because of the aesthetic criticism, but because of the “stupidity” of people who seriously believe in the lookalike theory. The actor, who today he lives an isolated life on Mauiin Hawaii, finds it frustrating that such an important moment in his career has been overshadowed by conspiracy delusions.
Jim Carrey, a life away from Hollywood
Whether it’s a facelift or a simple change due to age, the fact remains that Jim Carrey seems increasingly intent on enjoying his “retirement”. After starring in Sonic 3the actor has admitted that he loves his solitude and wants to stay away from the media circus. This Parisian apparition, unfortunately, seems to have proved him right: in a world that mistakes a 64-year-old man for a clone, perhaps staying to paint in his seafront villa in Hawaii is truly the wisest choice.
