12-year-old Jet Schepers from Coevorden is the new Miss Goose Keeper 2025. She takes over from Jaylee Regtop, who fulfilled the role of Miss Goose Keeper last year. Jet Keuken is the new Mini-miss and Daan Scholte the new Mini-mister.
The beauty pageant is a permanent part of the annual Ganzenmarkt in Coevorden. The participants have already presented themselves to the jury in recent weeks. This afternoon the participants walked through the streets of the Coevorder city center in traditional costumes, after which they showed themselves to the public and the jury in the packed party tent on the market.
This year, 41 participants took part in the traditional beauty pageant. Although the election has been part of the Goose Market for years, this part seems to be becoming increasingly popular. According to Lennard Bos, chairman of the Ganzenmarkt Foundation, more participants registered this year than ever before. “This year, 31 mini-misses have registered and that number is normally a lot lower.” According to Bos, this has everything to do with the modern character of the beauty pageant. “We changed our style three years ago and have become a bit hipper. I think that the Goose Market has been reborn a bit as a result and that the parents have also made the children enthusiastic to participate.”
“I really have no idea, all kinds of things are going through my head,” says the clearly surprised Jet Schepers when she was told that she had won first place. Although she holds the cup in her hands, she doesn’t seem to quite believe that she has become Miss Goosekeeper. “I just really don’t know,” she says, laughing. A few seconds later she hugs her parents. “I think it’s special,” says Jet’s mother in tears. “My sister was also Miss Goose Keeper once, so the Goose Market is just very special for us.” She looks at Jet’s father. “We have also been together for 21 years today, so yes, everything comes together today.”
The Goose Market is also an important moment of the year for Mayor Renze Bergsma. “You can always taste the pride for Coevorden, the Ganzenmarkt and the solidarity here,” he says proudly. “There is a very positive vibe at the moment and the organization is handling it sublimely: it is more alive than ever before.”
The new Miss Ganzenhoedster, Mini-miss and Mini-mister may represent Coevorden during all kinds of events in the municipality next year. Their very first performance in their new role will be soon, during the arrival of Sinterklaas.
