In the past, Jeroen Snel was seriously insulted by TV star Koos Postema, who died on Saturday, he says in the RTL Boulevard studio. “He called me a toddler with a squeaky voice.”
TV icon Koos Postema passed away on Saturday at the age of 93. He presented, among others, Klasgenoot and Langs de Lijn. How important was he to the media world? “Extremely important, because the way he did his work set such a great example for many people,” says TV expert Rob Goossens at the desk of RTL Boulevard.
Bullshit
Many TV stars have copied a lot from Koos, says Rob. “You can’t imitate how he did it, because he didn’t let himself be bullied. He actually made very calm broadcasts about the most complicated, spicy themes.”
Later in his career, Koos was also a table host in De Wereld Draait Door. “He still knew everything and was still sharp. He didn’t have to talk for ten minutes so that people thought: get to your point. He knew when to be there.”
Preschooler
Does Jeroen Snel, who is also in the studio, have memories of Koos? “Well, he called me a toddler with a squeaky voice.”
Presenter Daphne Bunskoek: “Hahaha. What a knowledgeable man.”
Jeroen: “That’s not fun, because he was a very big journalist and I just started in television in the early nineties. I was live on location and somewhere in a column in the VARA guide he wrote: ‘A toddler with a squeaky voice who tells me the world news.’ Well, it was, but it did have an impact, because you wanted it so badly.”
Greatness
Daphne understands that. “You also saw him as some kind of great.”
Jeroen concludes: “Yes, as an icon. Years later I was in his program. It was called Tv-wijzer or something, on MAX. It was about media. We had very nice contact then, so fortunately it turned out well.”
