Jennifer Aniston has talked about it in an interview with “AFP” in Pariswhat comedy is still “allowed” to do today and why she believes that a whole generation today finds “friends” to be offensive. The 54-year-old actress said: “Comedy has evolved, films have evolved. That makes it really hard for comedians because the beauty of comedy is that we make fun of ourselves and life.”

She explains: “You used to be able to poke fun at intolerant people and laugh – it was hilarious. And it was about educating people about how ridiculous humans are. And now we can’t do that anymore.” The actress then goes on to address the iconic series Friends that made her world famous, saying that there is “a whole generation of people,” “kids, who follow episodes of Watching ‘Friends’ and finding them offensive.” According to her, there were some “things on the show that were never intended and other… Well, we should have thought about that, but I don’t think there was that sensitivity, as they exist now.”

Aniston ends her remarks by saying, “Everyone needs a sense of humor! The world needs humor! We mustn’t take ourselves too seriously. Especially in the United States. We’re all way too divided.” Interestingly, contrary to Jennifer Aniston’s elaborations, Friends is still hugely popular with younger generations, particularly Gen Z. As such, the show can still be found on Netflix and has been charting for years high number of clicks. Murder Mistery 2, the sequel to the murder mystery comedy starring Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler, is out on Netflix Friday (March 31).
