The 18-year-old from Bruges, the eighth seed on the Portuguese hard court, defeated the 25-year-old Swiss Valentina Ryser (WTA 313), a qualifier, in the second round. She won 6-1 and 7-6 (7/4) after an hour and 37 minutes of competition.

In the first round, Vandromme had gotten through the eye of the needle in her match against the American qualifier Allura Zamarripa (WTA 1.042). She saved two match points.

To advance to the semi-finals, Vandromme must beat the 29-year-old Turkish Ayla Aksu (WTA 277). He did not have to take action after the forfeit of the American Sachia Vickery (WTA 693). Vandromme is the only Belgian on the table in Portugal.
