JD.com is in the black in the third quarter

The Chinese e-commerce specialist JD.com Inc. made progress in terms of sales and earnings in the third quarter of the 2022 fiscal year. This emerges from an interim report published on Friday.

Accordingly, group sales in the months of July to September amounted to 243.5 billion Chinese yuan (33.2 billion euros), which corresponded to an increase of 11.4 percent compared to the same quarter last year. The service division developed particularly dynamically, with revenues growing by 42.2 percent to 46.5 billion yuan.

Due to lower costs, the company more than tripled its operating profit from 2.57 to 8.73 billion yuan. Net income attributable to equity holders reached 5.96 billion yuan (US$930 million), up from a net loss of 2.81 billion yuan in the same period last year.

In the first nine months of this year, JD.com generated sales of 750.8 billion yuan (102.4 billion euros). Compared to the same period of the previous year, it was increased by 11.1 percent. Net profit attributable to shareholders jumped from 1.61 to 7.35 billion yuan.
