Iltalehti reported in June actor Jasper Pääkkönen and source & CO Oy’s Kalsar dispute continues when the company said it would choose the decision of the Court of Appeal.
Pääkkönen won the district and the Court of Appeal ordered the company to pay him $ 300,000 for unauthorized use of the name, image and sound.
Pääkkönen was asked at the invited guest opening of his Tar restaurant, what he thought of the company’s decision to complain about the judgment.
“Everyone has the right to complain,” he says.
However, he says he is very pleased with the decision of the Court of Appeal.
– That’s where the court won and realized.
Pääkkönen points out that all three judges on the Court of Appeal who decided on the matter were in agreement on the judgment.
“Everyone was in agreement that my rights had been broken and I thought the consensus was particularly positive because it did not leave anything to guess,” he says.

Continuous controversy
The Helsinki Court of Appeal resolved the Kalsar dispute in June. According to the judgment, the source & Co Oy had no permission to use Pääkkönen’s name, picture and brand in its marketing because the actor had not given his consent to it.
The company was ordered to pay Pääkkönen EUR 300,000, based on the amount that the actor would accept the campaign.
At the end of June, the company announced that it would elect a decision of the Court of Appeal.
– At the moment, it seems to be applying for an appeal, the company’s lawyer Mikko Leppä told Iltalehti at the time.
In 2021, Pääkkönen acted as a brand ambassador to The Other Danish Guy. He then participated in the podcast recordings, which included advertising photos for the company.
However, the advertising campaign proved to be wider than he had agreed with the company what he considered out.
