IJSSPEEDWAY – Jasper Iwema (32) finished tenth in the third round of the battle for the world title. In Thialf in Heerenveen, the driver from Hooghalen could not meet his own expectations.

“I didn’t ride any heat well,” Iwema responds. “On this rock hard ice, with my weight of only fifty kilos, I can’t control my bike. We’ve tried quite a few things on the bike, but it has no effect. Tomorrow I hope the ice master will have some softer ice I just go in blind, because on Monday I don’t have to do anything.”

In the five heats, the former road racer collected six points. That puts him in tenth place in the daily result. And with that, he maintains himself in ninth place in the World Cup standings.

Day victory to Sweden

Today’s victory went to Swede Martin Haarahiltunen. He is now in third place in the World Cup standings. Despite two serious falls, the German Johann Weber is the new leader in the battle for the world title. He finished second in the final today.

No Russians

Due to the war in Ukraine, no Russian drivers are allowed in Thialf. In the standings there are still four Russians in front of Iwema, without having taken action today.

Tomorrow afternoon the fourth and last round of the World Championship ice speedway will be held in Thialf
