Fenerbahçe Beko’s head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius, who lost 81-77 to Panathinaikos AKTOR, which he hosted in the 16th week of the Basketball EuroLeague, said that the Greek team achieved the victory by reflecting what they wanted on the field throughout the match.
Making a statement at the press conference held after the match played at Ülker Sports and Event Hall, the Lithuanian head coach said, “I congratulate Ergin Ataman and Panathinaikos. They were the side that played their own game throughout the match and achieved the victory. However, I also congratulate my team. We could not play our best basketball, but our struggle was always there. It is difficult to have a winning streak in this tempo. We will play tough matches. I congratulate my team for our performance in the past period.” he said.
Answering questions about their 22 turnovers in the match and Panathinaikos scoring 31 points in the last period, Jasikevicius said:
“We scored 77 points and managed to stay in the match. We worked hard, but we did not get the reaction we expected. We play a lot of matches, we go through an aggressive calendar. These can also happen in this period. We were against a good team and an experienced head coach. They had one day more time than us to prepare for this match. Our opponent did some things that harmed us. There were many issues we tried to change, but we could not achieve them during the match.”
Asked about the performance of the referees of the match, Sarunas Jasikevicius said, “There are certain rules we follow in the EuroLeague. I prefer to keep my money in my pocket during the Christmas period. Of course, we will communicate about this through official channels later.” he replied.
