Janet Veningen, Welfare Coach at Icare, looks around satisfied. “It started as a simple idea. Of course we always go on vacation, but how can we give residents that holiday feeling back? Well, so.” She smiles. “One of the residents didn’t even want to shuffle. He would rather have been alone with a cigarette and enjoying nature. That’s vacation, isn’t it. Don’t do anything.”
Jannie Fekkes (84) looks around and nods approvingly. “I didn’t think I would end up here again,” she says. “But it’s totally great. The sun is shining, the food is tasty, and it’s just fun.”
Mrs. have laughs. “We also ordered the nice weather, you know! And do you know what we do all day? Eating, drinking, throwing a bit with the ball. Real old people things.”
