Jannik Sinner had to end his title defense at the ATP Masters in Shanghai prematurely. The world ranking second from Italy gave up in its third round match against the Dutch Tallon Griekspoor at 7: 6 (7: 3), 5: 7, 2: 3. The reason for this was an injury to the right thigh.
Already in the fourth game of the third set it was seen that Sinner had complaints. He ended the game in pain and then limped across the square. The 23-year-old had defeated German Daniel Altmaier 6: 3, 6: 3 in difficult conditions with high humidity and temperatures around 30 degrees in the second round.
