How do you recognize fake emails from scammers?
“The most important tip is to always look at the sender,” says Niels Vermeersch, Data Protection Officer at the Jan Yperman Hospital.
“Usually the sender’s email address does not match the person the person is pretending to be. And phishing emails usually also have a very urgent tone. They try to convince you to click immediately, otherwise it could have consequences. In the past, you could still identify phishing emails due to poor Dutch language use, but Chat-GPT has completely eliminated that and it is becoming increasingly difficult to recognize phishing emails,” says Niels.
The hospital wants to continue to focus on digital security in the coming years.
