Dutch cyclist Jan-Willem van Schip has been disqualified in the Tour of Greece and will not be allowed to start in the second stage on Thursday. According to the race management, the Azerion / Villa Valkenburg rider did not hold the handlebars correctly.
“The bicycle is completely legal, but they have found something to screw me again,” Van Schip responds in a video on Instagram. “The position is supposedly not good, because I then support myself on my forearms. But everyone does that,” says the 31-year-old rider.
It is not the first time that Van Schip has been disqualified. The same thing happened to him at the end of 2025 in the Tour of Holland, because his material did not meet the requirements. The rider calls on the UCI to clarify the rules. “What sadness, what pain, what a shit sport,” he concludes.
